Take a break, get inspired, and learn a bit more about Judy Darley. Here is our twist on an interview.
- A quote that inspires you:
“Fiction is the truth inside the lie.” ― Stephen King
- Your writing process described as a song:
- You’re a writer so tell us with your words why you write. But please don’t bore us:
The experience of writing is to reach the brightest and darkest parts of yourself. If it frightens you, chances are you’re doing it right. It’s also a bridge, both into the depths of yourself, and out of yourself into the rest of the world. I write to see the world more clearly, and to make sense of the parts of it that bewilder me. There’s the aim, too, to connect with other people in a way that will help them to see things with fresh eyes.
- What is a recent story or poem you’ve had published elsewhere that we should read?
I rather like my flash fiction “The Moth Room,” published in Gone Lawn issue 21.
It’s inspired by a recent visit to an artist’s studio, and is my twist on the Cinderella fairytale.
Judy Darley is a UK-based fiction writer, poet and journalist. Her words have been published by literary magazines and anthologies, and performed on BBC radio, in cafés, in caves, in artist’s studios and in a disused church. She blogs about art and other things at SkyLightRain.com.
See you next week with another not-so-typical interview.
