Take a break, get inspired, and learn a bit more about Samara. Here is our twist on an interview.
- A quote that inspires you:
- Your writing process described as a song: Pink Moon – Nick Drake
- You’re a writer so tell us with your words why you write. But please don’t bore us:
Creativity is an elemental force in the universe, Connecting to chaos (implicate order) is like getting electricity of creation through your body. I walk with one foot in this energy, like I think most makers do, so there isn’t a lot of choice for me. It’s a world-view that expresses as writing right now, but it’s expressed as other forms, before. Connecting to the human condition. Telling the story, reporting narrative or raw process or deep emotion. Poetry comes the closest to telling the truth for me.
- What is a recent story or poem you’ve had published elsewhere that we should read?
“Parallax” was published in Bird’s Thumb
Samara is a Pushcart nominee whose work has appeared most recently or is forthcoming in Bird’s Thumb, The Christian Century, Inflectionist Review, Gyroschope Review and others. She has two children, works in marketing and design, and has returned to university and will complete her BA in Poetry in the summer of 2018.
See you next week, with another not-so-typical interview.
