Take a break, get inspired, and learn a bit more about M.J. Iuppa. Here is our twist on an interview.
- A quote that inspires you:
- Your writing process described as a song: The Beatles – In My Life
- You’re a writer so tell us with your words why you write. But please don’t bore us:
Last year, we began keeping bees. It’s quite a process, and in our daily practice, we were successful and we weren’t. Beekeeping much like writing needs that careful attention– a watchful eye, a gentle hand, a space hidden away to let one’s music thrive. I think the hum of the hive is what I feel is the music of the line.
The unusual warm fall of 2017 confused our bees. They swarmed (unbeknownst to us) and flew away. Gone. Writing can be ephemeral, too. There are days and nights of great progress; then, life comes with its diversions, and you have to start, again.
- What is a recent story or poem you’ve had published elsewhere that we should read?
“How Do You Imagine Yourself” published in Clementine Unbound
M.J. Iuppa ‘s fourth poetry collection is This Thirst (Kelsay Books, 2017).For the past 29 years, she has lived on a small farm near the shores of Lake Ontario. Check out her blog: mjiuppa.blogspot.com for her musings on writing, sustainability & life’s stew.
See you next week, with another not-so-typical interview.
