May your life have poetry and your poetry, life…
Three Line Thursday remains a lovely addition to the blog here at Ink In Thirds. I would like to encourage you to spread the word and enter weekly. I will be including some of the poems from the weekly contributions in upcoming issues of Ink In Thirds Magazine, so if you’d like a chance to be published: participate weekly. Also, if you have a Twitter handle include it below your submission.
Happy writing!
If you don’t know what #TLT is all about here are the cliff notes:
- Write something that will move us! Inspired by the photo above.
- DO NOT include the prompt word.
- Brevity is key.
- What can you say, convey, express in only three lines? Can you paint a visual picture with only words? Tell an entire story that begs to be read? Use your imagination.
- No titles. Let’s keep it about the words.
- 10 words max per line. 3 lines.
- Post your poem in the comments and comment on others. Have fun!
This week’s prompt: Bridge
All photography used for TLT purposes is licensed under Creative Commons Zero images.
Love and Ink,
Grace Black
Countless steps on your wood, both hard and beaten
Leaves and dust like witnesses of everybody’s proving times
I’m here. Passing right now. Acknowledge my fight for life.

Ground ablaze in reds, a sign heralding the end
Soon winter will scatter muted hues through naked branches
And a desperate leap shall plunge us into the darkness

Wonderful as always. I am always impressed by how much you can pack into such limited space. I am always over the limit and have to cut. Your work always seems to be the perfect length for what you convey.

Thank you! Yes, there is cutting involved for me, too…

Your echo lives in the whisper of fallen leaves
An imprint burned into my fingertips
Connecting us beyond time and breath

The night has stilled, our shelter now quiet,
No rumblings of cars or of trucks overhead,
Let’s all dance the homeless tango till dawn.

So powerful, so useful, so beautiful too
these arches linking here to there and us to them.
Oh if only there weren’t trolls below…

The trolls are always a big bummer. Beautiful with a punchline!

Thanks, floweringink. I tend to see trolls as a bit like weeds in the garden; perfectly fine – just in the wrong place.
