May your life have poetry and your poetry, life…
Three Line Thursday remains a lovely addition to the blog here at Ink In Thirds. Although the magazine has come to an end, publishing issues, I will continue to post these weekly TLT prompts, as long as people participate. I will always remain a champion of writing and writers!
Now let’s lay down some ink!
If you don’t know what #TLT is all about here are the cliff notes:
- Write something that will move us! Inspired by the photo above.
- DO NOT include the prompt word.
- Brevity is key.
- What can you say, convey, express in only three lines? Can you paint a visual picture with only words? Tell an entire story that begs to be read? Use your imagination.
- No titles. Let’s keep it about the words.
- 10 words max per line. 3 lines.
- Post your poem in the comments and comment on others. Have fun!
This week’s prompt: Barbed
All photography used for TLT purposes is licensed under Creative Commons Zero images.

They set this up to keep us apart
But don’t fear. Stick through the spaces
And meet me there, lace our hands; we are winners.

surging panic, hot, prickly skin, sudden nausea, the overwhelming desperation:
the will to white knuckle some real part of herself

I try to cage the cruelty of your judgements,
but the weight of your ego strikes the silence.
Compassion blurs on my tongue.

There’s a thin line between a splinter or careless jibe,
And seductively fondling a blueberry muffin, on the verandah,
Overlooking the rent, in the town of Broken Biscuits..

Brilliant, Steve. All over the internet, people are reading this and secretly thinking, “I wish I was a blueberry muffin…”

I’m seeing a vast inland, wild American landscape. But one which could exist in the land of Oz. Great job.

That’s brilliant, Ewan. I think if we merged our two efforts, it could be the start of the type of story that Hollywood is desperate to film. Just a thought. Anyway, I was a little less than patient with my toast this morning.
